PhD position in computational seismology

The successful candidate must hold an M. Sc., Diploma or equivalent in geosciences, physics, applied mathematics, computer sciences or related field. Strong analytical and quantitative skills in numerical analysis, programming, and an interest in wave phenomena, inverse theory, and data analysis would be beneficial. The working language will be English. We expect good interpersonal skills, the ability to thrive in a diverse, multidisciplinary and dynamic working environment, and the willingness to spend time at European partner institutions and to present at international conferences.

The position will be located in Zurich, Switzerland, in conjunction with Specraseis AG (www.spectraseis.com) and the Seismology and Geodynamics Group at ETH Zurich (www.seg.ethz.ch ). Spectraseis AG is the principal technology and service provider in the fast-emerging field of low frequency passive seismic surveys to help oil and gas companies more efficiently find and produce hydrocarbon reserves.
