Postdoctoral position in Computational/Observational Seismology Department of Physics, University of Toronto Application deadline: October 15, 2011

The global seismology group at the University of Toronto (Canada) is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship in computational and observational seismology. The global seismology group engages in developing innovative methods in utilizing numerical tools of 3D seismic wave propagation to generate high-resolution images of Earth's interior. The successful applicant will develop imaging methods for scattered waves based on existing 2D and 3D SPECFEM software packages  and apply them to various region of the earth (beneath seismic arrays, upper-mantle discontinuities, the CMB, etc) . Experience with seismic data analysis, seismic imaging, seismic wave propagation and computational methods is required.

The position offers a competitive salary and benefits, and is for two years with the possibility of extension to three years. It may start as early as this summer. To apply, please send your CV, research statement, three publications, and the names of two references by email to Qinya Liu ().
